Biography
Hebe de Champeaux is a Dutch/American conductor, violinist, and mezzo-soprano currently residing in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Hebe began playing the violin at the age of 4, and continued to study music, receiving a Bachelors of Music in violin performance (Cum Laude) from San Francisco State University, a Masters of Music in instrumental conducting from Indiana University Bloomington, and a Bachelors of Music in choral conducting from the Amsterdam Conservatory. She currently studies voice with James McCray at the McCray Studio of Vocal Arts. At Indiana University, she was named Graduate Assistant Conductor for the IU Opera Theater season 2004-2005. She has also participated in conducting masterclasses around the globe with Kurt Masur, Jorma Panula, Boris Hinchev, and Colin Metters. In 2007, she won the Jury's Prize at the Bela Bartok International Opera Conducting Competition, and recently received recognition of "honorable mention" for the Taki Concordia Conducting Fellowship for women conductors.

Conducting
Hebe has worked as a freelance conductor with several choirs in the Netherlands including the Schütz Ensemble of Almere, the Nederlandse Kodaly Koor, Nederlands Concertkoor, VU Kamerkoor, and has given choral masterclasses in Buitenkunst and at the Nederlandse Opera. She has permanent conducting positions with Orkest Sonante in Wageningen, the Leiden English Choir, Audite Nova Chamber Choir, and is assistant conductor of Toonkunstkoor Amsterdam.
